Earlier in olden days when someone fell sick, people didn’t knew the actual disease and medical science at that time was also not advanced enough to treat every disease found in humans. With advancement in medical science, today’s modern healthcare system has the ability to cure almost every disease. This is a reason why we have longer lifespan now even when we are living stressful life, facing pollution everyday and eating unhealthy junk food. Modern healthcare has been a blessing to human being.

It is unfortunate to see some people still believing in quacks and things like amulet etc. There is a very famous person here in my city who gives amulet for every disease and problems and people claim that they get benefit. I doubt if this was true and enquired people whom I knew well and they told me their sad story that even after years of wearing charm and doing various stuff told by that person, their illness did not got cured at all. Add to it, that person selling amulet was suffering from some illness and it came to my knowledge that he went to hospital for the treatment. Now it’s really eye opening that if he really had a cure for everything by just wearing amulet, why doesn’t he himself wear one and get rid of his illness? What really happen and make these type of people famous is the self healing power of our body. Some people find relief even when they do not take any medicine and it’s all by our body mechanism of handling damage caused to our body by illness. These same people if wear amulet, give all the credit to the person who gave them the amulet and forget how their own body worked hard to cure it.

Latest innovations in medical science have given birth to many life saving medicines and cutting edge medical equipments that helps saving life’s everyday. Simple things we might even ignore, like vaccines and tetanus injection which have been a life saver for all of us today.

We get hurt and get wounded and wounds heal with time but any damage that is done to tooth will not get healed. And we need our teeth not just for eating food but for aesthetics purpose too, enough reason to do anything to keep our teeth healthy. When I was a kid, I was not aware of tooth decay caused by eating sweets and not brushing teeth after, and when I came to know about it in school, I didn’t took it seriously either. Result was that there were sever tooth decay in lower jaw molars and two pre-molars. While going though orthodontics treatment my dentist pointed out the decay and told to get the filling done. Now I must say getting this procedure was one of the most painful things I experienced in dental clinic, they used drill to carve out all the decayed part of tooth and fill amalgam. Everything went fine but what I noticed after this procedure that the part of tooth which was filled with amalgam now felt totally something foreign in my mouth which is obvious because there is no sensitivity and feedback sent to tooth from this amalgam filling. For months it felt so odd and even today (and my whole life probably) I will miss the originality of natural tooth. From that day a lesson was learnt that no matter what time of the day is and no matter how much work is pending, first thing to do right after eating sweet stuff is brushing the teeth or at least use a mouthwash if it’s not possible to brush. Also never miss to brush in morning and at night before sleeping. I have been maintaining a strict oral hygiene and result is I don’t have a single dental problem now! You can know more about dental problems at My Healthy Speak Blog

No I did not see any movie before sleeping so this dream is something totally a creative idea of my mind that was displayed to me while I was sleeping with awesome movie like scenes and dialogues. Here is what I saw:

I am a part of gang, a gang of three robbers. One of them is a beautiful young lady. All of us are wearing black coloured dress which was kind of futuristic looking. In first scene we all three are in a middle of street, its dark all around and we are spotted by cops who are standing at the end of the street. We stole some IC’s (must be really expensive ones) and the other guy with me was having them in his hand. Now I told him since we are spotted, you run as fast as you can and we (me and the girl) will also run and distract the cops away from you. As soon as cops loose your sight, hide these IC’s in the hollow bark of one of trees (there were trees on the side of the road) and we will come in the day and take them away. Soon we were running and looking for some place to hide. After sometime the other guy met us again and said cops have some flying robot who is scanning the whole street and will be coming here very soon. At this point my brain said that its enough entertainment for today and its time to wake up to reality.

I cannot count how many times I fell from bike and got minor bruises and cuts and hence don’t call them accident. But I did had a really bad one when I had a head on collision with another bike and I call this my first accident. This first accident happened long time when I was 17 or something.

The second accident happened 25th January when I was going to my friends house on my bike and my bike slipped. The road had fine gravels and I think I was not looking at how uneven the road was, got dis-balanced and because another friend was sitting behind, I did not get any chance of balancing the bike and we both fell. When falling my friend landed right on my top so he was saved from any major injury. My face on right side hits the road and since I must have tried to save myself using hands (don’t have memory of that exact time of falling), I got a really bad cut on my chin and bruised both hands. Only good thing was that the incident took place near my friends house and hence help arrived soon and I got the first aid.

Its late night and I am preparing for the final big MCA project viva. This viva is the last thing hopefully I have to do and my MCA would be complete. I will be called a post graduate when I receive the degree yay! But fingers crossed and hope everything goes out well tomorrow because this one is not going to be easy. Making the project was challenge and going for viva in this season when outside temperature is down to 12 deg in day time is another challenge. I don’t know if I will be shivering of fear or cold tomorrow.

I don’t know how I started putting this all together randomly selecting the ingredients but end result was awesome. As you can see in the photo only that much was left for taking photograph. Enough talking and here is the recipe:

What you need:

6 medium sized potatoes

5 – 6 spinach leaves

3 – 4 mint leaves

2 fresh lemon leaves

150ml fresh cream

cheese spread – 2 spoon

ginger paste – 1 tea spoon

tomato ketchup – 1 tablespoon

chilli sauce – 3 tea spoon

chat masala

lemon juice – 2 tea spoon

honey – 2 tea spoon

salt to taste

How to make it:
Half boil the potatoes. I just kept them for 3 minutes in microwave and they were good enough. Now peel them and cut in cubes. Heat oil and fry these until golden brown and keep it aside.

For gravy:
In a grinder put cream, cheese, mint leaves, spinach leaves and lemon leaves, salt and make a smooth paste. Heat little oil and put ginger paste, tomato sauce and chilli sauce. Now fry it for sometime and add the paste we made above and fry till oil separates.

Now add friend potatoes and sprinkle chat masala and mix. Add lemon juice and honey as well and mix. Dish is ready for serving!

I did not go for expensive SLR because I am not a photographer and don’t want to insult a SLR camera by just using it in auto mode all time and taking shots that even a cheap point and shoot can take. Portability was also a reason to buy something compact. Settled for Canon SX150 IS after some research and it turned out an awesome choice. Look at the photo of moon I took today. When I first tried in auto mode it was too bright but then going in manual mode and lowering the white balance setting I was able to take a good shot.

No internet, no cable TV and no proper electricity too. Slowly I got everything in order and amongst first thing was to get an internet connection. Since there was no wired connection possible (I favor wired internet connection than wireless) here, I applied for the WiMax and got it installed in 2 days. A DTH was in list too for watching some of my favorite programs on Infotainment channels.

When I wake up in the morning I am totally confused as where the door is and in which place I am sleeping. I was so much used to my older place that I have to realize every morning that I am in a new place.

Apart from these small problems, I am enjoying my new home a lot! We got an organic farm too which is keeping my dad busy all day. For me, making small changes and fixing stuff in house and shopping etc is taking all the time.

He joined JNMC in 1972 as a Technical Assistant (TA) and later was promoted to STA. Strange thing is I never went to his workplace but I know what was his job and how easily my Dad was a favorite for every doctor there in OT. I know this because doctors often use to especially call my dad for assisting some serious operations and they always said they cannot do it without my Dad presence. After a farewell party when he returned home, he looked happy but I am sure he will be sad from inside. He loved his job, never took unnecessary leave and sometimes even went on the duty when he could easily skip going without any problem. I am curious to see what he will do tomorrow morning as it will be the first day after so many years when he will not be going to job on weekday.

It started with fun and ended with a good laugh as well. A week back I was in market selecting tiles for the kitchen and bathrooms of my new home. After a lot of discussion and imaginations of how the tiles will look after fitting we decided to go for off-white non slippery tiles on floor and Cadbury cream joint free tiles for walls with its matching highlighter tiles as well. Now the same tiles shop gave me a list of phone numbers of tile fitting service. From bunch of numbers I selected the most trusted and oldie looking name “Munshi Lal” thinking that he must be some old chap with lots of experience. Munshi Lal was very much talkative and he bragged a lot about his father work and the experience he has gained from him. When he visited the site of work for giving me estimate, though his rates were fine, he did not agreed to lay tiles on the existing floor of the kitchen and said he will break the existing one and make new one because according to him the floor was not correctly made. This was something I did not want to do because breaking floor may cause damage in various electrical and water pipes below and there was actually nothing wrong with the floor. I tried to convince him the same but Munshi Lal firmly said he will break it and I said goodbye to him. In the mean time I received a call from second person named “Nesar”, I think he got my number from the tiles bill at the shop. This person was a jolly type and looked much down to earth ready to do whatever type of work provided to him and not fiddle too much. I handed him the work and the only annoying thing was he would come to work at sharp 8:30 AM and would work late till 9 PM!! I had to borrow a petrol guzzler generator from my friend Faraz so that work could go on without any interruption. There is a story behind this generator too, it was lying since unknown time at one corner of his house and when we tried to start, it did start after some hard trying. It did its duty well inspite of rusted tank and chocked carburetor. It was a Birla make generator with 2 stroke 63 CC petrol engine from Yamaha.

My duty was to reach the site in morning and stay there to check if work is going on correct or not. In beginning Mr. Nesar tried to do lousy work by fitting even slightly broken tiles. On this I got him remove every bad tile and kept a strict check on his work. After sometime he understood what kind of work I was looking for and he was now doing it correctly. To make environment friendly me and my friend Faraz were cracking jokes and often speaking double meaning lines. The problem with Nesar was that he did not understand the double meaning lines at once, but after few minutes he would catch get it and burst out in laughter giving us yet another reason to laugh.

When the work was complete after a week, it was about 9 PM and it was quite dark. After they packed up their tools I asked about how much was the bill? I already had a rough estimate in my mind because I did calculate the square foot area of walls and floors. Nesar told me that he would bill me @ Rs.7 per square foot for wall and Rs.9 per sq foot for floor. Now instead of measuring the area, he said it will be quicker to just count the number of tiles boxes used and multiply it with the covered area one box covers. I agreed and when it was calculated, it came out Rs.9640 which more than I expected. Since everyone was tired, I did not say anything but paid him Rs.7000 and told him I’ll pay remaining Rs. 2640 tomorrow. At night I thought how this can happen, and in the morning I went to the site and measured the covered area again and according to my calculation total came out Rs.8441 so when Mr.Nesar came to my home for his payment I told him about this and as expected he did not agree to my measurement and said he will measure it again himself. I happily agreed because I knew that I measured it roughly and it was more than the actual area. As I thought when next morning he measured, it came out even less and Mr.Nesar had to settle with even lesser money now.
